Sheila Collier
Board Member
A dedicated community leader and philanthropic advocate, Sheila Collier has spent nearly four decades serving initiatives that strengthen Jacksonville and beyond. Originally from Oklahoma, she built a successful career in banking, specializing in Cash and Treasury Management for over 13 years. However, driven by a deeper calling to serve her community, she transitioned from the corporate sector to focus on nonprofit leadership and civic engagement.
Sheila’s passion for philanthropy began early, with her first volunteer experiences in high school. Since then, she has held leadership roles in numerous organizations, driving impactful change. She recently completed her term as President of the Women’s Giving Alliance (WGA), where she oversaw record-breaking growth in both membership and grant funding, helping distribute over $750,000 in grants and bringing the organizations total to close to $10 million in support of women and children. She has continued her involvement as Nominating Chair for the WGA Governance Committee and a member of the Grants Decision Team.
In addition to her work with WGA, Sheila serves as Governance Chair for the North Florida School of Special Education Board of Directors. She has also been a Board Member of the First Coast American Cancer Society, where she played a pivotal role in raising $19.2 million as a Cabinet Member for the Hope Lodge Capital Campaign. As a dedicated member of The Women’s Board of Wolfson Children’s Hospital, Sheila chaired one of Jacksonville’s signature events, the Arts and Antiques Show. Sheila is also a proud Sustainer of the Junior League of Jacksonville, where she was honored with the Tillie K. Fowler Award.
Sheila has financially supported READ USA because she recognizes the transformative power of education and literacy. Driven by a passion for providing all children access to the power of reading, she is also enthusiastic about the ongoing potential of READ USA's workforce and professional development through its Literacy Tutoring program.
Sheila has been married to her husband, Claude, for over 35 years, and together they cherish their time with their two adult children, Will and Jess. She enjoys traveling, spending time with friends, and relaxing at the beach. She remains passionate about driving meaningful change through philanthropy and leadership, always seeking new ways to support education, healthcare, and community development.
She firmly believes that “Everyone can experience the joy and blessing of generosity because everyone has something to give.” (Jan Grace)
